I have always had purebred dogs due to my mother's allergies. When I turned 22, I decided I was ready for the amazing companionship and love that a dog provides. I also knew that I wanted to give a shelter dog a home. When I first went to the Athens Animal Control and Shelter, it was heartbreaking. So many dogs, big and little, old and young. I knew then that I would never purchase a dog from a breeder. When I saw Milly for the first time, I knew she was my dog. She barely lifted her head and was severely matted. Her underbite was undeniable. I adopted her that day and she is my best friend. Milly is so loving (and so spoiled now)! She changed my life, and I know everytime she looks up at me that I changed hers.
