Flicka is an Australian Shepard/ hound mix, found as a stray at 10 weeks old. She was adopted by a family with small children. She was shortly returned by the family because they didn't really “have time for a puppy”. The kids didn't help when it came to teaching her good behavior. When Flicka came back to the Humane Society, she was a little “messed up”. The adoption counselor said she was going to be a lot of work. She asked me if I was willing to take the time to help Flicka. My immediate response is, “Yes. I am up for the challenge! I want to help her. She deserves it.” That same day I went home with Flicka (5 months old) and I wish I could say it was easy, but it wasn't. I took her to obedience classes and together we learned so much. She knows her basic commands, some tricks and gets along with other dogs. She is now 1 year and 4 months, has a unique look and is super sweet. She has come a long way from the first walk we took together.
