Kendra was surrendered to the SPCA in very poor condition. She was malnourished, heartworm positive, and had been at the shelter for several months. My fiancé (now husband) and I had been looking to adopt a dog, and visited several of the area shelters trying to find a match for our family. When we came across Kendra, we knew she would be our baby hound. While all the other dogs were jumping, whining, and barking, Kendra was standing quietly wagging her tail and sticking her big wet nose through the gate wondering if we would be the lucky family to take her home. Kendra was very nervous and shy at first, but with unconditional love (and lots of treats,) she has become a happy, playful, affectionate, and loyal dog. She has opened our hearts and really taught us how to "stop and smell the roses." Kendra is kind to all animals and wants to be everyone's friend. Her nose always leads the way, and she can sense anytime when we just might need a Kendra hug. We are lucky to have her in our lives.
