When we decided that it was finally time to bring a little one into our lives, we knew it had to be of the four legged variety from our local humane society. We met Mac, a pit/hound mix, and instantly fell in love. As our adoption counselor guided us through the process we learned that this pup had a rough start to life and would need a very special home. For starters, he came to the WI Humane Society by way of a kill shelter in Dallas. We didn’t know much about his background however a best guess is that he was bred to be a “bait dog” for a fighting ring since he is naturally strong with lots of energy. Once in Milwaukee he was diagnosed with Parvo, an upper respiratory infection and had lost most of the hair from the back of his ears (a sign of stress) and this little guy was only a few months old. My husband and I are happy to share our home with Mac and are very pleased to announce he’s grown all of his hair back. We’re also looking forward to giving him a two legged sibling soon.
